What To Consider When Pursuing Addiction Treatment
The first thing to consider when looking into addiction treatment is to consider what type of treatment is appropriate for you. Keep in mind that when you call to learn about a treatment program, the clinical team involved might suggest you enter a different level of care than where you think is necessary. In any case, here is a brief breakdown of the types of treatment you may receive during your recovery journey.
Level 4 care is the highest form of treatment and is known as a detox program. This is for individuals who need to be physically separated from drugs and or alcohol and get sick when they withdraw. The next level down is residential treatment (level 3). These programs provide education, stabilization and comprehensive discharge planning. Most insurance only covers 14 -21 days and out of pocket payments are usually 1k-2k per day. This level also includes sober living services, which provide people with a safe and supportive environment to maintain early sobriety. Sober living programs can vary greatly in their costs and services so I highly encourage you to contact them directly or speak with one of our team members to learn more about their program.
The next step down is level 2, which includes day treatment (PHP) and intensive outpatient programming (IOP). Day treatment provides 5 hours of group therapy, 5 days per week and focuses on clinical education and recovery skills. PHP typically lasts for 2-4 weeks and provides a great bridge from residential treatment back into the world. Additionally, IOP is very similar except it runs 3 hours of group therapy for 3 days per week and usually lasts for 3-6 months. The last step down from here is outpatient (OP), which is anything less than 9 hours of group therapy per week.
Best Addiction Treatment In Fort Collins
Now that we know the most common types of treatment programs, let’s talk about how to determine the best course of treatment. Since there’s such a wide range of addiction services and they span greatly in their quality, it’s tough to know what treatment is best. Unfortunately, there are some financial limitations that might restrict you from receiving the best treatment available. However, you should definitely ask these questions regardless of your financial situation.
- Do you provide partial or full scholarships? If so, how do I receive one?
- Do you provide access to a medical doctor?
- What type of amenities does your program offer (i.e. gym membership, case management, outdoor activities, etc…)
- What is the cost of treatment without insurance?
- Do you provide drug testing?
- What’s included in your clinical curriculum?
- What’s your programs philosophy about addiction treatment?
- Do you have recommendations for alternative programs that might fit my insurance or budge?
